Hi there. It’s Greg. From your inbox. I’m attempting to revamp the Aerial Shot podcast, and so here’s an idea I thought of while running up Harlem Hill in Central Park: Aerial Shot Movie Club.
You know book clubs? This is that, but without all the work of reading a book. You just have to watch one movie a month. That’s a few hours at most, and there’s a non-zero chance you’ve already seen some of these.
The gimmick is simple. A guest will select a movie for us to discuss. Some movies will be “classics,” others will be childhood loves, and perhaps a few will be first-time watches. It’s not up to me, so I feel no pressure whatsoever.
The first-ever guest is Molly Longman, a talented writer with an insane amount of energy who might burst into song at any moment. She chose … The Lion King. Perhaps you’ve heard of it.
This is the 1994 animated version, of course. Not the live-action remake. How dare you even think that?
Anyway, we discuss our favorite Disney movies, tragic death scenes and The Brothers Karamazov. I think it’s pretty fun, and at the very least, we got to rewatch a five-star classic while eating Chop’t. Could be worse.
As I mentioned, the plan is to do this once a month. You can listen on your favorite podcast platform or here on Substack. Choose your own adventure.
