Mansplaining The Neon Demon (For Some Reason)

Jake and I broke down 'The Neon Demon' for Erica. It is a bad movie.

This is Jake’s fault.

The Indianapolis resident and new library card owner has been taking DVDs out and for some reason decided on The Neon Demon. He then texted me the following after watching it: “I need you to see that movie so we can talk about how insane it is.”

Well, I did, and then we talked about it for all to hear. In case you don’t know (and why would you?), The Neon Demon is a 2016 thriller directed by Nicolas Winding Refn. It stars Elle Fanning, Jena Malone and Keanu Reeves for some reason. And it’s not very good.

Jake and I had a lot of thoughts and takes, so we decided to recap it for his wife, Erica, who hates horror-ish movies and gore but loves to know the twisty plots. So now, here we are. Here’s almost an hour of Jake and I describing the plot of a movie to someone who has no desire to ever see it. It’s quite the podcast.

There are a lot of run-on sentences and stumbling as we try to summarize the unbelievably ridiculous story. It was a lot of fun. Please listen if you have the time and/or love to use your time unwisely. And yes … there will be spoilers.

Thanks for reading Aerial Shot! The Neon Demon is on Prime. You’ll love it.
