Greta Gerwig’s Little Women premiered at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City on December 7, 2019. Lauren Saxe and I were there.
In the nearly six years1 since, both of us have seen the masterful adaptation of the Louisa May Alcott book so many2 times, so it only felt right that Lauren chose this for the Aerial Shot Movie Club. It’s a romantic heartbreaker, a laugh-out-loud comedy and should probably go to jail for still making me emotional on every goddamn viewing.
There was never really a doubt that Lauren would pick this one. And I’m glad she did, because it’s up there with the best stuff I’ve ever seen. It appears Lauren would certainly say the same.
Speaking of, Lauren’s one of my best friends, a lover of “ugly” dogs and a marathon runner (for some reason). So it’s an honor to have her on the podcast to break down (essentially) every scene3 of the modern classic.
Alrighty then. Listen to the pod, please. I think it’s pretty good. It’s on your favorite podcast platform, and even the ones you despise.
Also, shameless plug, but I wrote about Little Women (2019) for Betches. This is the scene. It’s brutal (and great).
jesus christ
so many!
sorry about that
