We all have blind spots when it comes to movies. For example, I still haven’t seen The Godfather Part II. But more importantly (depending on who you ask), I had never seen Gremlins until last week. And you know what? It’s fun as hell.
The 1984 horror-comedy directed by Joe Dante is many things: A fever dream, a Christmas movie, a teenage romance, a treatise on bad dads and, of course, this week’s Aerial Shot Movie Club, all thanks to Jake Richards.
A great friend, a fellow movie obsessive, a cat owner, and a tennis knower, Jake graced us with his presence and chose a childhood classic that he had seen growing up. It must’ve made a mark, because here we are discussing it decades later.
The two of us break down Mogwai, eating after midnight and the 2019 Best Picture winner Green Book … obviously. Also, frequent guest Erica Steward makes an appearance. As Bill Simmons might say, “It’s a free-flowing conversation that occasionally touches on mature subjects.”
