Movie Club: Gremlins

Jake and I break down a very normal, chill movie.

We all have blind spots when it comes to movies. For example, I still haven’t seen The Godfather Part II. But more importantly (depending on who you ask), I had never seen Gremlins until last week. And you know what? It’s fun as hell.

The 1984 horror-comedy directed by Joe Dante is many things: A fever dream, a Christmas movie, a teenage romance, a treatise on bad dads and, of course, this week’s Aerial Shot Movie Club, all thanks to Jake Richards.

A great friend, a fellow movie obsessive, a cat owner, and a tennis knower, Jake graced us with his presence and chose a childhood classic that he had seen growing up. It must’ve made a mark, because here we are discussing it decades later.

The two of us break down Mogwai, eating after midnight and the 2019 Best Picture winner Green Book … obviously. Also, frequent guest Erica Steward makes an appearance. As Bill Simmons might say, “It’s a free-flowing conversation that occasionally touches on mature subjects.”

So, listen to it above, or at your nearest/favorite podcast provider. I’m a Pocket Casts Man myself, but I won’t judge if you try out those small upstarts, Spotify or Apple Music.
